We were promised a short (15 minute) echocardiogram and then a brief visit from Dr. Myers (Max's cardiologist in Calgary) but we ended up with a 2 hour appointment and a somewhat lengthy visit from a different cardiologist as Dr. Myers was stranded in Vancouver. I guess that's just the way the cards fall sometimes!!! Maybe 15 minute appointments are something that only take place in a perfect world!!!
The new cardiologist had to familiarize himself with Max's case before being able to speak to the fluid situation so things took a bit longer but the good news is that the fluid levels have decreased by 1-2mm. The amount of fluid was previously measuring 6-7mm across and is now 5-6mm. This means that it is slowly getting better although it has not greatly improved. So what does that mean you ask?... Max's 10th echocardiogram is being scheduled for 2 weeks from now!
We really hope that this will resolve on its own and that Max will not need any more medication as he is now completely free from all medication including pain meds. Yay!
The cutest "surgery related" thing happened the other day. We haven't talked much about doctors or hospitals or his incision very much since surgery as it has been quite a sensitive topic both physically and emotionally for Max. Out of nowhere the other morning he shows Abbie his incision and says "Doctors fixed the owie." So cute. He now talks about Dr. Ross and Dr. Myers freely and hearing him call them by name and recognize that they helped fix his heart is both priceless and adorable at the same time.

Scars and scabs are looking much better these days. |
What great news to hear that improvements are happening, though perhaps not at the speed we would all like to see. But some is better than none! And we think that Max`s crazy hair is the BEST! Thanks for keeping us all posted on the progress! We are hoping each day gets easier and better! Hugs, The Wieliczkos
