Birthday Wishes & More

Not much to post about today so I guess that no news is good news. Max had a great day overall. Chest tube being out has certainly made life a lot more comfortable, as we expected.

Max was so hilarious this afternoon for his Tata and Papa and then borderline hyper tonight for Abbie and I. He was saying everyone's names that he could think of... just listing them off... all his cousins, grandparents, his aunts/uncles, the tabata teachers, and the list goes on. He was counting like crazy too. Then we gave him a glowstick (thanks Lynda!) just before bed as a mild form of entertainment and he loved it. Waving it around like crazy and blabbering on about TV shows that he never knew existed until he became glued to a hospital bed for days on end.

For those who didn't know, today was also Abbie's 29th Birthday. So the best gift for her was seeing her baby boy happier and back to his fun self. Abbie and I were able to sneak away for a nice lunch at Earls (across the street from the hospital) and there were even a couple of gifts for her to open today. Not a dream birthday but we made the best of it.

We met a family who is in the bed next to us and we heard a bit about there story. Wow. Sometimes you hear about other children's journeys and can't help but be thankful for what we have been given. Their 16 month old girl just underwent her 6th heart surgery. Unbelievable. To make it worse, they are from Manitoba and have no family here at all. In fact, when their daughter needs sudden heart surgery, they airlift them to Edmonton. I couldn't imagine what they have been through and what still lies ahead as their daughter's heart surgery journey is not yet finished. Despite being in good spirits and very pleasant to talk with, I think that they could use a prayer or 2. We are hoping to use a gift card that was given to us to help bless them in a small way.

Here are a few pics to end the night. Hope you are all well.

  2. Thanks for this blog and keeping us updated! Continuing to pray for Max' recovery, as well as for your dad, Cam! As I've been praying for all of you, I also pray that you will be a light to those you come in contact with at the hospital, just like with this family you met. God will use this experience for many reasons! Happy birthday, Abbi! XO
