Even though yesterday was a bit of a challenging day for us, Max is really doing well and that's all that matters. The doctors and key medical staff just did their morning rounds and the visit was very promising. All his tests from yesterday look great. He is a little behind still on his fluid intake but they expect this to be better at home. His higher heart rate has been determined to be his normal rhythm but may be slightly elevated due to low hemoglobin levels and just being in the hospital. He will be on an iron supplement for 3 months to try and get his hemoglobin levels up. The good news...
WE ARE GOING HOME!
We should be leaving the hospital sometime before noon and heading back to Cochrane later today. We will be home for Christmas and we are so grateful as this was our wish and it is the greatest gift that we could receive.

If this surgery is anything like the last one, both Abbie and I feel like we go into survival mode while we are here and it isn't until we get home that some of the realities and emotions set in. We will be blogging a few more times I am sure as both Abbie and I reflect upon what has happened. So stay tuned if you're interested.

ReplyDeleteWe have been following your blog and really appreciate you doing this for those of us who can't be there with you physically, but know that we are there in our thoughts and our prayers. God is so good as always. It is amazing that you are able to take Max home so soon after such a major surgery. Max is looking so go in the pictures, from here it is hard to tell he just went through heart surgery, other than the band aids and IV's, he is looking so strong.
